Wesley William Winget, 67, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023 in Springtown. He was born March 22, 1956 to Henry “Hank” Milton Winget and Dorothy Faye (Holman) Winget in Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. Wesley was preceded in death by his father, Hank Winget and Hank’s wife, Marienne Buchanan Winget; mother, Dorothy Winget Medlin; and brother-in-law, Steve Van Dyke. He was raised in the Dallas area and graduated from Lewisville High School in 1975. Wes played football making the varsity team his sophomore year and helped the Fighting Farmers go all the way to the state game, the only game they lost that year. After graduation he worked for Otis Engineering as a Class A machinist for 19 years. Later he went on to start his own fishing guide business on Lake Ray Roberts. After years of guiding he landed a position as wildlife manager/outfitter at Richard’s Ranch, a 15,000 acre hunting ranch, something he truly enjoyed. Wesley then worked as a maintenance technician for Brazos Electric Cooperative before retiring in Springtown where he lived on his 10 acre property that he named Tre'-Dub Ranch for his initials WWW. Besides enjoying hunting and fishing, Wes excelled in meat smoking competitions, earning himself several awards. He also became skilled at custom rifle stock refinishing, one of his greatest joys. Wes loved to gather with family and friends and sharing his home. He is survived by brothers, Carl Winget, Steve Milton Winget, Dale Buchanan and his wife Debbie, and Earl Buchanan and his wife, Angie; sisters, Debbie Winget Van Dyke, and Karen Buchanan Hinman; nieces, Jessica McNalley, Carla Earls, Blair Buchanan, and Audrey Winget; nephews, Henry Winget, Tommy Winget, Steven Henry Winget, Ridge Winget, Brock Buchanan, and Lee Hinman; many great nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. Wesley will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
