Wallace Hart “Charlie” Williams, 86, passed away, Tuesday, October 29, 2019 in Decatur. Burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date in Sunflower, Alabama with his family. Wallace, known to many as “Charlie”, was born May 11, 1933 in St. Stevens, Alabama to Lewis Harris Williams, Jr. and Carrie Lee Bowling Williams. They both preceded him in death along with two brothers, Lee Bowling Williams and Lewis Harris Williams, III. Charlie grew up in Sunflower. As a young child his mother would take him by horseback to work with her as a Postmaster and would spend his day playing at the post office. He was a pitcher for the Mississippi State Bulldogs baseball team and his grandson, Chase followed in his footsteps as a pitcher. He served in the US Army and after moving to Texas, Charlie worked for Texas Instruments for many years. Finally becoming a self-employed Electrical Engineer. He loved to fish and raised and showed champion German Shepards. Left to cherish wonderful memories, are his daughter, Carrie Baran; sons, Chris and Scott Williams; daughter, Laurie Simpson and son, Mike Simpson; the mother of his children, Ann Williams; grandchildren, Chase, Taylor, Laura, Lisa, Kelly, Shana, Stephanie, and Brooke; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
