Allen Gene Wilkins, 40, of Fort Worth, TX went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 28, 2019 from complications related to a yearlong battle with esophageal cancer.
Allen was born in Fort Worth, TX on August 4, 1979 to Judy Blackshear. He grew up in a single-parent family most of his childhood and was devoted to helping his mom care for his little brother, Jr. (Robert). Despite many odds, Allen excelled in school and graduated Salutatorian of his high school class in 1997.
Allen married the love of his life, Brandi McCain Wilkins, on March 25, 2000, and together they have four beautiful children and one foster son. Allen was a devoted husband and loving dad. There wasn’t anything greater in his life or meant more to him than his family.
Family knew Allen as a jokester who loved to laugh, enjoyed telling funny stories and could make light of any situation. He was a diehard Cowboys fan. He was adventurous, fearless and loved life. A few years ago, he and his brother completed the Stratosphere Sky Jump in Las Vegas and just a month before his passing, he completed his bucket list adventure of zip lining with some of his family in Broken Bow.
Allen had a heart for people and even though cancer took its toll on him this past year, you would have never known it. He continued serving others and his family until the very end. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and he put his absolute best into everything. For years, he helped Brandi take care of their foster son, “Frankie”, as if he was their own.
Allen is survived by his wife, Brandi, his four children, Hailey (15), Allison (11), Trinity (7) and Dylan (1) and foster son, Frank; mother and step-father, Judy and Jim Blackshear; brothers, Christopher Wilkins, Robert Riddell Jr. and wife, Michelle; step-brothers, James Blackshear, Tony Blackshear and wife Christi, Jackie Blackshear and wife, Jill and Mark Blackshear and wife, Bonnie; step-sister, Crystal Clark and husband Larry; cousin, Sondra Sien and family; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
Allen was preceded in death by his grandparents, Scott and Nelda Brothers.
