Jacquelen Jeanne Vance, affectionately known as Nana, passed away on August 1, 2024, at the age of 95, in Azle, Texas. Born on November 16, 1928, in Lincoln, Illinois, Jacquelen was a spirited and loving individual who dedicated her life to education and dance performance.

Jacquelen graduated with both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Physical Education and Dance from the University of Illinois. She spent her career as a lifelong educator and performer, enriching the lives of countless students and audiences. Her passion for the arts was evident in her involvement in school and theatre choreography, where she left a lasting impact through her creativity and dedication.

Beyond her professional life, Jacquelen was deeply involved in a variety of hobbies. She was an active member of her local bell choir and enjoyed playing bridge, completing puzzles, and winning at card and board games. Her love for latchhooking, family travel, and animals showcased her diverse interests and generous spirit. Jacquelen's commitment to animal welfare was profound, and she spent many years rescuing and training animals in need.

Jacquelen is survived by her daughters, Robin Pelfrey and Vicki Higgins; son-in-law, Greg Higgins; grandchildren, Cayle Higgins, Kelsea Phillips, Brad Phillips, Ciera Higgins, and Garett Pelfrey; sister-in-law, Joann Vance; and niece, Lori Reiter. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Parker Vance; brother-in-law, Richard Allen Vance; and son-in-law, Farell Pelfrey.

Those wishing to honor Jacquelen's memory may make contributions to the ASPCA, reflecting her lifelong love for animals.

The family has entrusted Alexander's Midway Funeral Home in Springtown, Texas, with the arrangements. Jacquelen's adventurous, loving, and generous nature will be dearly missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.
