James loved boating, the water, airplanes and most of all his seven children. His favorite role was that of Dad, and his purpose for most of his life was taking care of and providing for his children. His favorite stories involved their summer trips, even when all they could do was take the Volkswagen van to New Braunfels and share a big bag of cookies while swimming in the river, then driving the sleeping family home. There were the stories of FFA projects and a house always full of kittens and puppies. Taking children from Lighthouse for the Blind fishing. He was very proud of all the children from their beginnings until he left this earth, his grandkids and great grandkids.
James spent 53 years in the oil and gas industry, starting in the drafting department. He learned on the job and over the years moved into engineering and outside sales. James served as head of Sales and International Sales for Gearhart-Owen and other companies. He loved to tell stories of his travels to over 100 countries.
