Ona Thatcher

Ona, 89, passed away on October 22, 2019, at home surrounded by her family. She was born and raised in Jacksboro, TX along with numerous brothers and sisters. Ona met her first husband Johnie Barton in Azle, TX while visiting a sister and were soon married. They had six children: Johnny, Melvin, Bonnie, Jerry, Linda, and John. She was a housewife until Johnie’s death in 1967.
In 1974 she married single father Bobby Thatcher who had four children: Terry, Chris, Angela, and Vada.  She was happily married until Bobby’s death in 2010.
Ona had a content life enjoying dancing, evening meals and family gatherings with her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her surviving siblings are sister Margaret Gilbert and brother James Strickland.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Alexander’s Midway Funeral Home with graveside services on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Ash Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Azle, TX.
