Raymond William Smith, 85, passed away, Wednesday, March 13, 2024 in Springtown, surrounded by his family. He was born October 31, 1938 in Fort Worth to Leonard Lee Smith and Emma Tabitha (Bell) Smith Travis. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Glin Smith and Grady Smith; sisters, Lillie Rivers and Lena May Smith; daughters, Cynthia Harnsberger and Trina Gray; and grandson, Chase Gray.
He was raised in Fort Worth and later served in the Army National Guard from 1955 to 1960. Raymond married the love of his life, Wilma (Kennedy) Smith in 1956. They moved to Springtown in 1965 where they raised their four girls. He was a truck driver for over forty one years, retiring from Grief Brothers Trucking and was a member of Legacy Church for many years.
Raymond enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Wilma Smith; brother, Calvin Smith and wife, Ann; sister, Doris Vereen and husband, Charlie; daughters, Kay Wilson and husband, Kenny, Melinda Black and husband, Rodney, fourteen grandchildren and twenty five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Raymond was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
