James David Smith, 60, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, with his family at his side.
James was born Sept. 24, 1953, in Winnsboro, La., to James Rudolph and Nell Brewster Smith.
He worked as a tool and cutter grinder with 38 years of experience in the oilfield industry, and General Dynamics, and retired from Bell Helicopter.
He was preceded in death by his father; brother-in-law, Verdis Unnasch; and grandchildren, Jace David, Jasyn David and Asher Gannon Smith.
Survivors: Wife, Gwen Smith; son, Jeremy Smith and wife, Stephanie; granddaughter, Alexys Smith; mother, Nell Poe; siblings, Carol Lightsey and husband, Charlie, Betty Unnasch, Steve Smith and wife, Patty, and Sandy Webster and husband, Michael; and numerous nieces and nephews.
