Billie Shepherd

Billie Jean Shepherd passed away on June 13, 2024 at 95. She was born January 27, 1929 in Luling, TX to Howard Gentry and Maude Keng and she was the 5th of 6 siblings. Billie loved to crochet and cook but she loved visiting and cooking for family. When she and her sisters were in the kitchen together, they cooked up delicious dishes and had fun doing it. Billie also organized several family reunions so that she could visit with everybody. Sadly, Dementia took Billie from us long before she passed away.


She married James Richardson, who was in the Marines, on January 25, 1948 and they had one child, Ivan Maurice Richardson. He was born in Los Angeles, CA on March 25, 1949. After her first husband passed away, she met and married Royal H. C. Shepherd on May 4th, 1975 in Houston, TX. Ironically Billie Jean passed away on the same date as her son, 12 yrs later.

Billie Jean is survived by sister in law: Ronnie Gentry of Florida, nephews: David Mooneyham (Debby) of San Antonio, TX, Kenneth W. Bardwell of Henderson, TX, Lynn Bardwell of Angleton, TX and Terrell Gentry. Nieces: Elaine Gentry Ganem (Joe) of Fl, Janie Leach of Kilgore, TX, B. Lyn Gentry Bril of Colorado and Kimberly Gentry Shingleton of SC and many great nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Spouses: James Richardson and Royal HC Shepherd. Son: Ivan Maurice Richardson, brothers Jack Gentry and Kenneth Gentry. Sisters: Naomi Gentry Mooneyham Chambers, Lucille Gentry Leach Bardwell, Polly Gentry. Nephews: Joe Mooneyham, Patrick Mooneyham, Mark Gentry, Nieces: Linda Mooneyham, and Billie Lou Leach Marler and Beverly Bardwell.
