Sharon Ann Christian beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, age 85, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Monday, October 27, 2025.
Sharon was born December 17, 1939 in Pocatello, Idaho to Floyd Richard Merkley and Mary Madge Stephens.
Sharon was a gifted child and had a talent for playing the piano - after a lot of hard work encouraged by her father. She was always a popular item at church activities and civic gatherings because she played so beautifully.
She married right out of high school and sacrificed continually so her 3 children could have what they needed. She was active in church callings. Her favorite one over the years was the Young Women’s Sports director and Softball Coach for the young ladies in the community of Orangeville, UT. She loved the girls, and they all loved her because of her dedication to them. She also served in many other callings and was known for her gift of charity to others.
After her children were raised, she found it necessary to go on to school to support herself. She received her nursing degree and worked in many nursing homes, again using her gift of charity to help others.
On April 9, 1992, she married JB Christian, and lived happily with him in Texas for the remainder of her life.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Madge, her father, Floyd, her sister, Mary Irene Mead, and her daughters Shelley Lynn Scow, and Shauna Lee Mangum.
She is survived by her husband, JB Christian; brothers, Richard Edgar Merkley and Mark Floyd Merkley; sister, Brenda Madge Merkley DeLeeuw; son, Wade Bernell Gordon; stepsons, Kenneth Christian (Julie) and Jessie Christian Jr, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
