Ronald D Chapmond

Ronald Dee Chapmond, 77, of Boyd, Texas passed away Thursday, July 30th at his home in Boyd. He was born in Oklahoma City, Ok to Edna and T.H. Chapmond on June 23, 1949.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tillman Harold Chapmond; his mother, Edna Frances Brown; his stepfather, Marshall Allen Charboneau; his brother, Thomas Willford Chapmond; his brother, Burgess Ritney Chapmond; his stepbrother, Ray Allen Charboneau and his niece Tracy Scott.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Alisa, of 32 years. His daughter, April Vance and her husband John and their children; His sister, Diane Entrop and her husband Ed; his brother, Tren Ray Chapmond and his wife Patti; his stepsister, Marilyn K. Todd and her husband Herb; and many nieces and nephews.

Ron attended numerous schools during his childhood, but graduated from Castleberry High School in Fort Worth, Texas. He received his undergraduate degree in accounting from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth in 1974 and received his master’s degree in finance and economics from TCU in Fort Worth in 1977.

Ron worked in the telecommunications industry for 31years as a technician, trainer, and systems analyst and as a private contractor. He also worked for 7 years as a sales executive.

Ron had a service-minded heart and was called to work as a youth leader in several churches for 15 years. He was a member of Aurora Baptist Church for 13 years and sang in the choir for 9 of those years. He loved helping others and was always willing to do whatever needed to be done to make someone else’s life a little better.

Ron loved music. Listening to it, dancing to it and singing to it. He loved to play the guitar. He played and sang at family reunions, at family holidays and jammed with family at any get-together.

Ron was good at reaching out to people and making every effort to stay in touch with family and friends. He not only wanted to keep in touch with his and Alisa’s siblings, but also with the nieces and nephews and their children. He would go out of his way to attend events and functions that they were involved in.

Ron loved history and loved to share what he learned about history. Those who knew him well always thought he should have been a history teacher. He always said he was an explorer with no boundaries.

Last, but definitely not least, he loved living in the country. He enjoyed the outdoors and sitting on the deck watching the critters and birds. He made our home a haven for all.

Ron was a good man. A kind, loving, gentle, Godly man with a great sense of humor. He will be missed.
