Roma Watkins

Roma Lee LaVerne (Wheeler) Watkins, 86, peacefully passed away at home Thursday, September 11, 2025. 

A private family memorial service will be held to honor her life.

Born on January 11, 1939, in Fort Worth, Roma was a cherished resident of River Oaks for many years. She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Ernestine Rich, and her devoted husband, Jesse Watkins.

Roma was a dedicated mother and grandmother who found joy in shopping and creating beautiful flower arrangements alongside her daughter for weddings and events. She also shared many years of her working life at the Star Telegram with her husband, Jesse.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Johnson, and her husband, Wade; her son, Alan King; her grandsons, Josh Johnson and Landon Johnson, along with his wife, Amy; her granddaughters, Dakota Johnson and Alannah King; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Maddox, and Brooks Johnson.

Roma's warm spirit and love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love and dedication to family will continue to inspire those left behind.
