From January 27, 1946, to February 6, 2022, a man quiet man walked this earth. He loved The Father with all his heart and strength. His faith was strong and unwavering. He was kind, and gentle in his way. His demeaner was always cool and calm in a way that gave strength to those around him. He would lean in and listen as you spoke. Then he would always choose his words carefully. He had a way of making you feel valuable. This man loved his wife deeply and unconditionally. He took care of his mother-in-law as his own mother. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with compassion, understanding and forgiveness. His love for you was so rooted in him, that it felt like an anchor. One that tethered you to him.
His smile was infectious.
He loved giving gifts. He loved to play practical jokes and then snicker quietly. Even his laugh was calm and cool. He loved his Cowboys and loved to have his children at the house for dinner and “the game”. He served this country honorably and was a proud U.S Army Veteran.
I asked him some years back what he wanted to be when he was a child. He said, ”I just wanted a family and to take care of them”. And that is what he did. He took care of us all with every ounce of his being.
He left a legacy of love, faith, strength, compassion. The life that he walked out before us still echoes on this earth.
