Douglas Riffey Jr

Douglas Hutton Riffey Jr, 70, passed away March 3, 2022 at home. He was born March 10, 1951 to Douglas Hutton Sr and Rebecca Kay (Durham) Riffey. They both preceded in him in death. He was born in Tampa, Fla. but adopted Austin, Texas as his home for nearly 50 years. Doug was an avid ham radio operator, lover of music, and reader of Science Fiction and Fantasy novels. He never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone. He was well known for his sense of humor and empathy, and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Katherine Schaefer; son, David Riffey; mother of his children, Teresa Riffey; and sisters Loura Shamblee and Susan Kimble.
