Richard Matthew Albertini, affectionately known as Rick, was born on November 17, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois. He peacefully departed this world on November 5, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, integrity, and cherished memories.

Rick's journey began when he made the momentous decision to drop out of high school, fueled by his eagerness to take on the world as soon as he received his driver’s license. Starting his career with nothing but a pick and shovel, Rick quickly proved himself to be an extraordinary talent as a backhoe operator, earning the respect and admiration of his peers in Local 150 of the International Union of Operating Engineers.

Over the years, Rick dedicated himself deeply to his work, yet he always found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Each winter, when his job allowed for time off, he would embark on memorable road trips with his beloved son, Nicholas. These journeys, usually taking them to the most fascinating caves across the country or visiting family in Watkins Glen, New York, were filled with laughter, adventure, and the special bond only a father and son could share.

Rick’s character shone brightly through his unwavering honesty, bravery, and fairness. He held himself to a high moral standard, never cheating or lying, and always choosing the path of honor. His steadfast principles were an inspiration not only to his family but to all who knew him.

Rick met Kathy in junior high school, and their path led them to marriage, a commitment that lasted 20 wonderful years. Together, they nurtured a loving family, welcoming their two children, Nicholas and Margaret.

He is survived by his beloved children, Nicholas Albertini, and his wife Katy, as well as Margaret and her husband Andy. Rick also leaves behind his adored grandchildren: Matilin, Angee, Theo, and Valen, who will carry forward his spirit in their hearts.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, John Albertini and Charmaine (Musconi) Albertini, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.

Rick Albertini’s life was marked by love, dedication, and an indomitable spirit. He will be profoundly missed, yet his memory will forever live on through the countless lives he touched.
