It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lynda Faye Wilhelm Queen, 82,
of Paradise, Texas, on January 9, 2025. Born on August 29, 1942, in Kiowa, Oklahoma,
to Ollie and Faye Wilhelm, Lynda was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend
who brought warmth and inspiration to all who knew her.
A graduate of Texas Woman’s University and West Texas A&M University, Lynda
became a dedicated educator, teaching award-winning journalism at Pampa High
School. She later served as Pampa ISD’s director of communications and as the first
communications coordinator at Region 16 Education Service Center. As the president of
the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) for 1998-1999, she inspired
members to be “Champions for Public Education.”
Her career earned numerous accolades, including TSPRA’s Most Valuable Member
award, Distinguished Educator of the Year, Phi Delta Kappa’s 1997 Kappan of the Year,
and several publication awards. Lynda also chaired major committees, promoted Texas
Public Schools Week, and spoke at numerous events, demonstrating her passion for
education and her commitment to excellence.
Lynda balanced professional success with a life of service to her family, community, and
faith. She raised a beautiful family, volunteered, taught Sunday School, and uplifted
others. Known for her quick wit, unshakable passion, and leadership, she leaves behind a
lasting legacy as a writer, educator, mentor, community leader, and loving matriarch.
Caring for her family was her greatest calling, and the love she shared will inspire
generations to come.
Lynda was a longtime member of Coulter Road Baptist Church in Amarillo, Texas, where her faith and active participation enriched the lives of her fellow congregants. Her
spirituality was a cornerstone of her life, providing her with strength and grace through
both triumphs and trials. Lynda’s unwavering belief in the goodness of others, coupled
with her infectious positivity, left an indelible mark on her family, friends, and community.
Lynda is now reunited in heaven with her parents, Ollie and Faye Wilhelm; her siblings,
Bobby, Gary, and Rocky Wilhelm; her daughters, Cynthia Lynn Queen, Beth Dills; and
grandsons, Czyz and Reese Dills.
She is survived by her loving family, including her son, Bret Queen, and his children,
Hylee Gomez, Ashlee Queen, and Isabell Queen; her granddaughter, Bama Dills
Bradley, and her husband, Joel, and their daughter, Eleanor; her great-granddaughter, Emma Faye Dills, daughter of Czyz, and her mother, Nicolette "Nick" Keomoungkhoune;
her great-grandson Bentley Dills and great-granddaughter Cameron Crawford, children of Reese; her father’s
second wife, Estella Rodriguez Wilhelm; and many other beloved family members.
In honor of her legacy, the family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to

A service celebrating Lynda’s life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Balsora
Baptist Church, 108 Country Road 3623, Bridgeport, TX. Family and close friends are
invited to gather for lunch at 11:30 AM, with the memorial service beginning at 1:00 PM.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Ann Moyer, her daughters Brenda Clements and
Carleen Moyer Rogers, and their family for their care and companionship of Lynda and
their assistance in organizing these events.
A second memorial service will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM at
Coulter Road Baptist Church, 4108 Coulter St., Amarillo, TX, a place Lynda cherished as
her spiritual home.
Let us honor the incredible life of Lynda Faye Wilhelm Queen—a woman of faith, family,
love, and unyielding dedication who enriched the lives of all who knew her.
