Jackie Peebles, 84, passed away, Thursday, December 2, 2021, in Granbury. He was born April 5, 1937, in Independence, Missouri to Marvin Jackson and Bernice L. (Brazeal) Peebles. They both preceded him in death along with his son, Glen Peebles; brothers, HB Peebles and Danny Peebles; sister, Jeannine Elledge; daughter in law, Elke Blue and son in law, Robert Lee.
Jackie was raised in Missouri when times were very hard. He was taught to live off the land and to survive by hunting for your next meal. Jackie would always tell you this part of his life provided him the knowledge of how to work hard and use what skills you had to the best of your ability. He was very successful in the ventures he pursued. Jackie went into metal finishing at a very young age and continued in this profession for 60 plus years. He was known as the best in the chrome plating business. Jackie also was known for his need for speed. He loved his years drag racing, funny cars and Top Fuel dragsters. Again very successful. World Champion many years. Other accomplishments were, flying his Comanche and racing Allison boats. Always striving to be the best. He loved his family with the same passion. The patriarch of the family will be greatly missed but he has new role now with his Heavenly Father.
Jackie is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 39 years, Sherrie (Simmons) Peebles; children, Debi Lee, Kim Thomason and husband, Dale, Susan Durant and husband, Tom, Carey Peebles and wife, Rhonda, Alicia Tibbets and husband, Scott, Cody Blue and Cherith Knight and husband, Kevin; twenty grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; and a large extended family and a host of friends.
