Robert Clyde Paul, affectionately known as Bob, aged 97 of Azle, Texas, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025. He was born on March 26, 1927 in Reno, Nevada to Father L.L. Paul and Mother Elvie Buckner.
Bob is preceded in death by his mother and father, Elvie and L.L. Paul; sister, Betty Walters; brother, Jim Paul; and daughter Paula (Paul) Blanton.
Bob grew up in Gladewater, Texas; attending and graduating from Gladewater High School. As a young man, he went on to continue his studies at Abilene Christian College, completing his first semester before ultimately making the decision to join the Merchant Marines.
Bob joined the Merchant Marines at the age of 18, where he was stationed on cargo ships in the Atlantic. He proudly served his country, delivering supplies and ammunition to fleets and ports until the end of WWII.
After the war, Bob relocated to Dallas, Texas, establishing roots and launching his career at Baylor Hospital. Throughout the duration of his time there, he rose from the Chief of Engineering to the Executive Vice President of the hospital. After 42 years of service to Baylor, he retired leaving a lasting impression on the growing industry. Many national awards can be accredited to Bobs hard work and dedication that spanned the course of a lifetime. Some of these included The state of Texas Award in Hospital Engineering, as well as two endowments at Baylor Hospital, all named after him.
Though Bob retired, he never truly retired his passion and love of engineering. The creator and dreamer that he was, he built the Church of Christ in Whitehouse, Texas; his final project.
Bob enjoyed traveling the world and seeing the wonders of creation. He toured Europe, South America and the Middle East; he walked the paths of Jesus and even swam in the Red Sea. He marveled in the studies of ancient structures in Europe, and researched his ancestors in Scotland. No matter what country or state Bob traveled, he always found a church where he could worship on Sunday and praise the Lord.
The family would like to thank Alpha Omega Hospice, Legacy Oaks, and Springtown Park Nursing and Rehab for their excellent care and compassion.
