Neoma Lee McKenzie, age 87 of Mesquite, Texas passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025 in Decatur, Texas. She was born July 26, 1937 in Murray County, Oklahoma to James Richard and Eunice Hazel (Goode) Hilliard.
Lee retired from Taylor Publishing where she worked for over 30 years. She later became a Home Health Caretaker where she received great fulfillment while caring for others.
She was a proud mother and grandmother who loved her sons and grandchildren unconditionally. She worked hard and provided a good life for her children.
Lee was a good friend to many and made a point for many years to stay in contact through lunch dates, long phone calls and letter writing.
She loved road trips to the casino, dancing, old western and sci-fi movies, crossword puzzles, playing cards with friends and good Mexican food.
She was known for her bright red-hair which matched her spunky personality that was loved by all. She had an infectious laugh and a way of making a lasting impression on all she met.
Lee was a good lady with a kind and generous heart. She unselfishly gave of herself to many.
She spent the last 3 years at The Hills Nursing Rehab where she made a lot of friends including staff and residents. A special thank you to the administration and caregivers for the kindness and compassion shown to Lee during her time there.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry McKenzie of Arlington, Texas; two children, Tracy Morgan and wife Amy of Chico and Jim McKenzie and wife DeeDee of Mesquite; seven grandchildren, Chrystal Morgan, Zach Morgan and wife Shyanne, Linsey Morgan, Kieran McKenzie, Gillian McKenzie, Zoe Morgan, Noah Wagner and Samantha Wagner; great grandchildren Billy Morgan, Savannah Morgan, Jason Morgan, Bailey Smith, McKinley Smith, and Josiah Morgan; Sister, Gail Everidge.
Lee was preceded in death by her parents James and Eunice Hilliard; first husband Chester Morgan; son, Billy Michael Morgan and wife Gale; brothers James, Willie, J.T and Jerry; sister Louise.
She leaves behind a lasting imprint on the hearts of her family, and her memory will be cherished forever.
