Burton J. McCoy, age 69 passed away on June 4, 2021, in Weatherford, Texas. Burt was born October 30, 1951, in Chillicothe, Missouri. He was the son of Vern E. and Sybil (Wever) McCoy. Burt is proceeded in death by his mother and father, Vern and Sybil McCoy, aunt and uncle Eileen and Jay McCully as well as Richard McCully.
Burt graduated from Oswego Community High School, Oswego, Illinois. He worked in a variety of different positions with his last assignment being a Manager of Service Design in Ft. Worth, Texas for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway. On Dec. 1, 2019, he retired with 50 years of service. He loved the railroad and was proud of the fact that he was one of only a few that achieved that 50-year milestone. Burt was well known for his knowledge of the railroad and his willingness to help answer any question at work. In his younger years, he loved to bowl and competed in professional bowling tournaments. He loved golf and was a huge fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. Burt loved watching the games with family and friends. His greatest joy later in life was spending time with his granddaughters, Abigael and Finnley.
Burt is survived by Paula his wife of 36 years. Two sons, Brandon and wife Amanda of Azle, Texas, Kyle and wife Stefani of Haslet, Texas. Two sisters, Linda (McCoy) Lupole and husband William of Montgomery, Illinois, Bridgette (McCoy) Johnson and husband Steven of Dekalb, Illinois. Three brothers, Bernard McCoy of Seven Bays, Washington, Richard McCoy and wife Lorrie of Kansas City, Missouri, Luke McCoy and wife Cheri of Rifle, Colorado. Two granddaughters Abigael and Finnley McCoy of Azle, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
