Sanford Lee “Butch” Mayfield, passed away, at home as he wished, Monday, January 22, 2018 following a six year hard fought battle with cancer. Butch was born June 20, 1942 in Fort Worth. Growing up in Lake Worth until moving to Azle in 1970, where he remained until his death. Butch was best described as an honest, big hearted, kind, old fashion man with a work ethic beyond reproach. Butch was well respected and reached legendary status among the old truckers community. Butch will never be forgotten by any of those who knew him as the Lord doesn't make them like him anymore. Rest in peace, you are loved by all. He was the rock and strength to those he loved. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Karen Beller Mayfield; sons, Lee, Steven and Cody Mayfield; grandchildren, Macy, Holden and Bowen; numerous extended family and hundreds of friends from all over this country.
