Mary Louise Ames, 87, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, in Weatherford, Texas. Born on July 4, 1938, in Mena, Arkansas, she lived a full and vibrant life centered around faith, family, and the simple joys that brought her happiness. Mary was a beloved wife to Jerry Ames and a devoted mother to her children: Jimmy Johnson and his wife Nancy, Sharon Johnson, and stepdaughter Stephane Theal and her husband Jason. She also held a special place in her heart for her stepsons, Dewey and Michael Ames. Nephew Kenny Faulkner and wife Dorothy. Her love extended across generations as she cherished her role as grandmother to seven grandchildren, great-grandmother to seventeen great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandmother to ten great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Lee and Thelma Thomason; her daughter, Paulette Azbill; son, Eddie Wenzel; grandsons, Darby Auvenshine and David Musick; and great-great-granddaughter, Ann Marie Musick. Mary found joy in the everyday moments of life. She loved to bake for those she cared about, often filling her home with the comforting aroma of homemade treats. Decorating her house was another passion—each room reflecting her warmth and creativity. She had an eye for beauty and took pride in collecting many beautiful things over the years. Whether playing games with loved ones or simply enjoying their company, Mary treasured every opportunity to be surrounded by family. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life. Mary enjoyed going to church and held a deep love for God that shaped how she lived each day—with kindness, devotion, and grace. Mary Louise Ames leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on through the many lives she touched. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
