Evelyn Martin

Evelyn Marie Baker Martin, 92, passed away, Monday, March 6, 2017.
Evelyn was born March 4, 1925 in Ringland, Oklahoma to Vergie May and Willie “Dink” Baker. They both preceded her in death along with her husband, three sisters and one brother. After moving to Texas, she met and married Waymon Martin. She was always an independent and determined lady. She loved her family and all the extended children and great grandchildren. Evelyn worked hard her whole life up into her 80’s and enjoyed driving her Lincoln. Even at the the age of 91, she always got up, dressed nicely, fixed her hair, makeup. She enjoyed dancing at the seniors meetings, and was known for her love of life and quick wit along with being a little contrary at times. She was a great cook, kept her house clean and well decorated, loved to play bingo, collected and pressed flowers in her scrapbook, colored pictures of birds and animals and collected dolls and stuffed animals.
Evelyn was close to her sisters and was a big part of taking care of them in their final days. Later in life, she had several major health issues, but she always pushed herself to get better and did through her strong will power. While living at Azle Manor she was known to help other residents in the dinning room or with watering the plants. She never missed a church service or any event they had.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherah Shaw; step-daughter, Judy Williams; many grandchildren and great grandchildren all of whom will miss her, but are happy to know that she is rejoicing with her family that has gone before her, that she cared for greatly.
