V. Ray Markum, 81, of Azle, passed away, Sunday, July 10, 2022. He was a construction and steel worker in a foundry. Ray attended Lake Worth schools. He was devoted to family, caring for his Mother and Aunt until the end of their lives. In return, his daughter, Janet, was his long term caregiver. He married Paula Springer at a young age, was a “Daddy” from age 19 to his final day, and a devoted Papaw to his grandchildren. He adored his great grandchildren, too. Ray was noticed for his good looks, and being a sharp dresser. He drove several immaculate Chevy Impalas in his younger days. He had a kind and gentle manner, and was always ready to help. He was a precious soul and was deeply loved. Ray was proceeded in death by his two little brothers, Jerry and James Markum. He is survived by his only child, Janet Rhea Markum, and grandchildren, Rheana Maloney (husband, Lance), Jaden Holt (wife, Amber), Ridglea Beall (husband, Jordan), and great grandchildren: CarMendi Rhea, and Cutter Maloney, Audrie, Caison and Braxton Beall.
