Jose Flores

Jose Flores, a cherished pillar of his community and family, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, in Decatur at the age of 86. Born on December 10, 1939, in the close-knit town of Poteet, Texas, to Everoto Flores and Victoria ( Gomez) Flores. Jose's life story is a testament to steadfast dedication, boundless love, and an unwavering spirit.

Raised in Poteet, Jose’s roots were deeply intertwined with the soil that nurtured him. In 1962, he married the love of his life, Ina Flores. Together, they built a loving home where their two daughters grew and thrived. His devotion as a husband was profound, standing as a pillar of strength and tenderness beside Ina until she passed. His parents, daughter Kathy Sanchez, and grandson Michael Brown also preceded him in death.  The bonds he cultivated with his family were woven with kindness, compassion, and a steadfast love that knew no bounds.

Jose’s professional journey was one of remarkable endurance and commitment. For fifty years, he poured his heart and soul into his work at H.B. Zachery Construction Company. His lengthy tenure was marked not only by a work ethic admired by colleagues but also by an integrity and humility that defined his character. Those who worked alongside him remember a man who approached each day with quiet dedication, always prioritizing the success of the team and the community they served.

Beyond the legacy of hard work, Jose was known for his warm spirit—a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose kindness touched every life he encountered. In his quiet moments, he was an ardent Dallas Cowboys fan, finding joy and camaraderie in the thrill of the game, a passion that brought many smiles to gatherings with friends and family.

Jose’s family was his greatest treasure. He is survived by his daughter Linda Flores, along with Jo Anna Bogle and her husband, Steve; his grandchildren, Cody Brown, Lacey Wright and her husband, Colby, Tyler Del Toro and his wife Debbie, Lynette Bugle; and eleven adoring great-grandchildren who will carry forward the legacy of love he so deeply embodied. Though his beloved wife Ina, sister Frances Flores, daughter Kathy Sanchez, and grandson Michael Brown have passed on before him, their memory remains a cherished part of his story and an enduring light for the family he leaves behind.
