John Michael Dan Gosvener, a man whose life was marked by unwavering dedication and resolute character, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, in Archer City. Born on March 30, 1959, John’s journey began in Wichita, Kansas, where he grew up and forged the foundation of a life well-lived.

John’s industrious spirit was most vividly expressed through his ownership of Diamond Drywall, a business he faithfully helmed for fifteen years. His stern demeanor and opinionated nature were tempered by steadfast hard work and an unyielding commitment to being a good provider for his family. These qualities earned him not only respect but also the deep love of those closest to him.

Beyond his professional life, John was a man of passions that spoke to his spirit and soul. A devotee of Harley Davidson motorcycles, he found freedom on the open road. He regularly rode in Toys For Tots toy runs during the Christmas season. Old rock music served as the soundtrack to his life, echoing the vigor and intensity of his life. In quieter moments, he cherished the solace of fishing, embracing the serene patience it required.

John’s family was central to his existence. He is survived by his beloved, Colleen Hurtt; a devoted circle of children, including Christopher Gosvener and his wife Roxanne, Levi Mahurin and his wife Alicia, Christina Mayo, Wisdom Powell and her husband Randy, Natasha Pickard and her husband Alex, and Daniel Gosvener and his wife Casey. His legacy extends further through his grandchildren, Joshua Mayo, Devin Mayo, Logan Gosvener, Katelyn Mahurin, Savannah Mahurin, Wyatt Mahurin, AlLeemae Mahurin, Bjorn Mahurin, Tatum Mahurin, Gavin Gosvener, Olivia Pickard, AJ Pickard, Bradley Gosvener, Zachary Gosvener, Dani Mahurin, and Andrew Mahurin, who carry forward his memory. Among his siblings, he is survived by sisters Anna Adams and Ruby Sampson, the latter with her husband Darrell. John also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, as well as an extended network of family and friends who held him dear.

His parents, Robert Ettis Gosvener and Myra Isabelle (Puett) Singleton, preceded him in death, as did his son, David Mahurin—losses that John etched deeply into his heart.
