James Coleman McVoid, 87, a lifelong resident of Springtown, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on November 16, 1938, in Parker County, he was the son of Adrian and Ina Ruth (Coleman) McVoid, both of whom preceded him in death, along with his beloved wife, Barbara (Haney) McVoid and son-in-law, Dale Carroll.
Throughout his life, James epitomized hard work and resourcefulness. His passion for welding and natural knack for fixing things made him a remarkable creative spirit who could transform ordinary items into something extraordinary. A true steward of the land, he found joy in tending to his garden and working with cattle, relishing moments spent sharing stories and creating memories with those he cherished. He was particularly renowned for his skill as a barbecue pit master, delighting friends and family alike with the delicious meats he prepared and the laughter he fostered around the smoker.
James leaves behind a rich legacy of hard work, strong hands, and cherished memories that will be fondly remembered for years to come.
He is survived by his daughters: Jan McVoid and her husband, Jim Thetford of Holdenville, OK; Jamie Carroll of Springtown; Julie McVoid and her husband, Alberto Ramos of Worcester, MA; and Jennifer Barcroft and her husband, Bart of Denton, TX. He also leaves behind his brother, Bill McVoid and his wife, Dorothy Kay; grandchildren Lindsay Bryant and her husband, Jonathan; Elizabeth Satterfield and her husband, Sam; Heather Phillips and her husband, Duane; Matt Carroll and his wife, Tosha; and Reegan Rodriguez. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Jasper, Kyra, Kaydan, Sam, Koleman, Kampbell, Easton, James and Livian; as well as his great-great-grandchildren, Emily and Michael, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
James' impactful spirit will be deeply missed, yet his memory will continue to inspire all who knew him.
