Herbert Safford, a cherished soul and dedicated State Supervisor for the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, passed away peacefully on November 14,  2025, in Alvord. Born on September 13, 1951, in Fort Worth, Herbert leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his family, work, and passions.

Herbert wore many hats throughout his life, but perhaps the most treasured one was that of a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his two beloved children: Herbert V. Safford and his wife Leann, and Tammy Ashmore and her husband Rodney. A doting grandfather, Herbert found immense joy in the laughter and energy of his grandchildren—Wyatt, Joshua, Gabriel, and Dakota—whose lives he touched with his upbeat personality and warmth.

A man of many interests, Herbert filled his days with activities that truly reflected his zest for life. He was passionate about coaching boxing and baseball, sharing not just skills but also lessons of resilience and teamwork with younger generations. The ocean was another realm he cherished, often indulging in SCUBA diving adventures that allowed him to explore life beneath the waves, while his love for coin collecting revealed a fascination for history and treasures untold. Herbert's spirit was also kindled through travel, where each journey brought new stories and memories.

In addition to his family, he leaves behind his brother, Larry Safford, and nephews, Kevin and Larry Safford, who will carry forward the memories of their beloved brother and uncle. Herbert's vibrant spirit and infectious enthusiasm brought joy to everyone around him, and his relationships with family and friends were marked by deep affection and profound respect.

Herbert made his peace with God before his passing, a testament to the strength of his character and his belief systems. He joins his cherished wife, Robin Nix, daughter Amanda Safford, and his parents, Herbert Safford and Patsy Ruth (Nix) Safford, in eternal rest.

As we remember Herbert, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with love, hope, and joyful adventure. His legacy will continue through the lives he touched, ensuring that his memory endures in the laughter of grandchildren and the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
