Henry David Spikes, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas. Born on March 24, 1933, in Oklahoma, Henry’s life was marked by dedication, hard work, and a spirited sense of humor that endeared him to all who knew him.
Henry spent many years working in maintenance before retiring from RTEC, where he was known not only for his tireless work ethic but also for being a reliable provider for his family. His colleagues and friends often remembered him as a person with a quick wit and a treasure trove of stories that could both entertain and enlighten. Beyond his professional life, Henry was an Assistant Scout Master in Azle, Texas, serving Troops 147 and 303 in Springtown—a role through which he touched the lives of many young people, instilling values of responsibility and camaraderie.
Henry’s passions extended into his daily life and leisure. He found joy in playing dominoes and spades, and loved to play Volleyball, activities that frequently brought family and friends together in lively and joyful gatherings. He was also deeply connected to the land, spending much of his life farming, gardening, and raising cattle. These pursuits not only reflected his love of nature but also a profound commitment to nurturing and sustaining life.
In 1952, Henry married his beloved wife, Sara Spikes. Together, they built their home in Springtown, a place filled with love and warmth where they raised their family. Their partnership was a cornerstone of Henry’s life, and the memories they created together remain cherished by all who loved them. Sara, along with their children Deborah Reeves and David Wayne Spikes and Steven Spikes, preceded him in death, as did his parents John Spikes and Ruby (Whatley) Spikes, his sister Marietta, and grandson, Robert Allen Spikes.
Henry’s surviving family carries on his enduring legacy. He is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his children, Allen Spikes and his wife, Dale, Johnny Spikes and his wife, Sheri, and his daughter-in-law, Amy Spikes. His spirit lives on in the hearts of his 23 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren—all of whom he adored and who cherished his guiding presence.
Henry David Spikes leaves behind a legacy steeped in love, humor, and unwavering dedication to family. His life serves as a testament to the power of hard work balanced with kindness and laughter. Though he has passed from this world, the stories he shared and the values he instilled will endure for generations to come. He will forever be remembered as a man who worked diligently, loved deeply, and lived fully.
