Dennis Lee "Homer" Hanson, 67, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014.

He was born July 4, 1947, in Sacramento, Calif., to James and Pearl Harder Hanson.
Dennis worked as a teacher with special-needs children in California and retired after 30 years. Then, moving to Texas in 1997, he worked for Verizon Wireless and retired in 2010. Throughout his life he was a member of Fair Oaks Presbyterian, Southlake Boulevard Presbyterian and, most recently, The Met Church, where he was member of the Fellowship Riders, played the bass guitar and was an honorary dad and grandfather to many children and young adults while serving his Lord Jesus in ministry for 40 years. He was a lieutenant in the Tarrant County Sheriff's Posse and received numerous awards during his 15 years.
Survivors: His devoted wife of 46 years, Kathy Hanson; daughter, Katy Hanson; son, Todd Hanson and wife, Marisa; granddaughter, Bianca Hanson; mother-in-law, Barbara Goggia; and extended family, the Goggias and the Harders.
