Viola "Betty" Gilmore

Viola “Betty” Elizabeth Gilmore, 97, passed away, Friday, February 14, 2025 at home in Azle. Memorial: 2 p.m, Friday, February 21, 2025 at Alexander’s Midway, Springtown. Viola known to many as “Betty" was born July 23, 1927 in Ranger, in Eastland County, Texas to Adam L. and Ester Irene (Shannon) Lindsey. They both preceded her in death along with her husband, Raymond “Red” Gilmore; and siblings, Jean Sparks, Adrian “Bud” Lindsey and Mary Ellen Fuller. Betty was a talented seamstress and was self taught as a young girl making dresses for her dolls. She was a public educator for Lake Worth ISD, Azle ISD and Springtown ISD and retired after 30+ years of teaching in 1987. She is survived by her children, Lizabeth Gilmore and Gary Lynn Gilmore; foster daughter, Melinda Ann Cecil Duncan; and granddaughter, Ashely Amber Day and husband, Landon: extended family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 2:00 at Alexander's
Midway Funeral Home, 3607 East Highway 199, Springtown, TX 76082.
