Georgia Ann (Murray) Whatley, 84, passed away Friday, July 17, 2026, at her home in Boyd. She was born November 1, 1941, to James Sylvester Murray Sr. and Nancy Irene (Keener) Murray. She is preceded in death by her parents; grandmother, Martha Kenner; daughter, Cathy Lynn Whatley Acree; brother, James S. Murray Jr.; sister, Linda Malone; and brother-in-law, Casey Malone.
Georgia and her husband Raymond settled in Azle and raised their family. She worked for H. R. Block for 26 years. Georgia was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished her family. She had an outgoing personality and loved to cook for the people she loved. She always had a cheerful attitude. Georgia had many interests, including touring the US on motorcycle trips, fishing, and dancing. She leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment to family that is carried on by those whose lives she impacted.
Georgia is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Raymond Lewis Whatley Sr.; sons, Raymond Lewis Whatley Jr, and his wife Vernette, Kenneth Whatley and his wife Dianne; granddaughters, Lacresha Wellingham and her husband Chris, Crystal Stoffer, and Richard Walden, Rachel Whatley- Hicks and her husband J Dallon; grandsons, Raymond Lewis Whatley III and his wife Sarah and, Kenna Whatley along with 10 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren extended family and friends.
