Gary Lynn Mitchell

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gary Lynn Mitchell, who left us peacefully on September 5, 2026, at the age of 70 in Richardson, TX. His presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Born on August 4, 1956, in Fort Worth, TX. Gary was the son of Gene O’Dell Mitchell and Loyce (Berger) Mitchell. He was united in marriage to Lisa (Hill) Mitchell on November 14, 1984, in Everman, TX. Together they built a loving home and raised three children: Trisha, Rebecca, and Gary II. Gary was a truck driver and a volunteer fireman on the La Junta Fire Department, where others describe him as “the best engineer there was, “always lit up a room with his corny jokes, “he never met a stranger and never held a grudge.” Gary enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years and devoted his time to being outside, rebuilding cars or working on other projects.

Gary is survived by daughters Trisha McCauley and husband Robert Wilson, Rebecca Mitchell and son Gary Mitchell II; grandchildren, Kennith M., Kaitlyn M., Kolby M., Hunter W., Ryder M., Kylynn S., and Tabby S.; Great-grandson, Zayn M.; Sister, Robbin Trammell; brothers, Terry Mitchell and Larry Mitchell; numerous nieces and nephews and many more family and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Mitchell; parents, Gene and Loyce Mitchell; sister, Melody Osborne; and brother, Chris Mitchell.

The family invites relatives and friends to a celebration of Gary’s life on Friday, September 25, with visitation at 11:00 a.m. and the funeral at 12:00 p.m. at Alexander’s Midway Funeral Home. The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this difficult time. Gary’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
