Wathena Garner

November 19, 1936 — January 23, 2025

Wathena (Gregory) Garner, aged 88 of Springtown, Texas, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and friends on Thursday, January 23, 2025. She was born November 19, 1936 in Fort Worth, Texas to Father, Joseph Allen Gregory and Mother, Attye Mae Miser. Preceding her in death are both her mother, Attye Mae Miser and her father, Joseph Allen Gregory; husband A.D. Garner; sons Russell Wayne Garner and Allan Douglas Garner; daughter Cynthia Marie Garner; grandson Chance Garner; great-grandson Westin Gage Garner and great-grandchild “Angel Baby”.

Wathena was a kind, caring, loving woman who is dearly missed by all who love and had the pleasure of knowing her. She possessed a servant’s heart; the kind of person who always put others first. She would give the shirt off of her own back in order to help someone in need because that is who she was. Those that she loved, she loved fiercely. She would take the time to check in on everyone as often as she could. Her love for her family and friends were her priority and the time she was allowed with them was invaluable to her. Wathena very much enjoyed her scratch off’s, fishing and Dr. Pepper’s, but her favorite memories were made when she was surrounded by those closest to her, often taking place during their family BBQ’s over a good meal with much laughter. Togetherness was the center of her world. Wathena is remembered for the tremendous size of her heart, not just for people, but for all of God’s creatures. She was truly an animal lover and would have adopted every single one, had someone allowed her. Her memory is one that has left an imprint on the hearts and lives of so many.

Surviving Wathena in death is her son, Bobby Joe Garner Sr; grandson B.J. Garner and wife, Cortney; granddaughter-in-law Sarah Hernandez; 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren
