Listen to Obituary
James Thomas Frick, age 37, passed away on Good Friday, April 10, 2020, from complications of liver disease. He was born on June 6, 1982, to Terence J. and Cindy M. Frick in Charlotte, NC. By the time James arrived in Texas in November 1992, he was a seasoned young sojourner having moved four times to four states in his first ten years. James went on to graduate from Southlake Carroll High School in 2000. He attended Texas Tech University and graduated from Westwood College in 2007 with a degree in Graphic Design and Arts.

On October 25, 2014, he married Kelli Cutshall in Granbury, TX. James worked as a graphic artist, a waiter and bartender at Chili’s Bar and Grill, and was a bassist and lead vocalist for several local bands, notably Six Hits Nine and The Tools – The Texas Tool Tribute.

James was born prematurely, surprising everyone, but not for the only time. For the next 37 years, he never missed an opportunity to surprise us repeatedly with his creativity, athleticism, writing, art, musical talent, culinary prowess, infectious humor, hearty laugh and his devotion to Kelli, family and friends. Sometime angels are among us and we never notice them. Not so with James, a wonderful, caring soul.

James was a very gifted and immense vocal talent with unbelievable range, timbre and intensity; he loved singing and entertaining purely for the joy he could give to others. Gone too young and way too soon; released from affliction; endeared by his wife and family; missed greatly, but just for a time; and that time will be worth the eternal reunion.

We will see you again James, leading praise in perfect pitch on God’s stage where music soars and one of His finest vocalists knows he is home.

“We will see His face, and His name will be on our foreheads.  There will be no more night. We will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give us light. And we will reign for ever and ever.” Rev. 22: 4-5

James is survived by his wife Kelli Frick; his parents Terry and Cindy Frick; his brother and sister-in-law, Jeffrey and Kayli Frick; his step-daughters, Kamryn and Hannah Tarver and Mikah and Addyson Meeker; his father-in-law Randy Cutshall; parents-in-law Bruce and Theresa Jowell; sisters-in-law Karson Cutshall and Breelyn Sustrik and her husband Kyle Sustrik; niece and nephew Brynli and Liam Frick; nephews Jude Porter and Kannon Sustrik and niece Kaidence Sustrik; grandparents Lloyd and Carol Lamar and grandmothers Margaret Hardy and Karen Frick.

He was welcomed home by grandparents Tom and Bettye McGraw, Jim Frick and Bonny Frick.
