Oh, what joy there is in Heaven today...and for always. Beloved mom, grandma, sister, and friend, Lorene Frances Finstad entered her eternal rest on Saturday, August 27, at her home in Rhome with members of her family by her side.
Born to Emil and Willa Belle Schroeder on June 21, 1932, at her home in Burkburnett, Texas, Lorene was the sixth of seven children. She was baptized into Christ on July 24, 1932, and was confirmed in Christ on April 14, 1946, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Iowa Park (Clara), Texas. Lorene attended St. John’s College in Winfield, Kansas, where she received a degree in teaching in 1951. After graduation, she taught at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Waco, Texas, where she touched many lives as a 1st through 3rd grade teacher. She also met and married Raymond Lloyd Finstad at St. Mark Lutheran Church. Together they had six children.
Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Helen Eaton and Juanita Tonn; and brothers, Herbert Schroeder, Richard Schroeder, and Raymond Schroeder. Lorene is survived by her children Donna and husband Johnny Schober, Randy Finstad and wife Dawn, Tim Finstad, Ruth and husband Doug Rohloff, Amy and husband Mike Knickerbocker, and Paul Finstad and wife Jamie; grandchildren Nick Finstad and wife Mary, Crystal (Schober) Jones, Allison (Schober) Ostermann and husband John, Carl Finstad, Craig Finstad, Erin Finstad, Amber Finstad, John Schober and fiancé, Sarah Johnson, Joshua Rohloff, Emaleigh Hathorn, Lauren Rohloff, Audrey Burchett, Olivia Burchett, Aiden Finstad, Kara Rohloff, and Natalie Finstad; 15 great-grandchildren; sister Linda Rogers; sisters-in-law Jane Schroeder and Deanna Schroeder; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Lorene loved spending time with her family and church family, quilting, and gardening. She will be remembered for her faith in Christ, her devotion to family, her joy of traveling, her kindness, and her smile. Her faith and love of life and laughter will live on in the people who were blessed enough to know her during her 90 years on earth.
