Irene Eanes

Irene Marie (Ward) Eanes, 92, passed away, Thursday, July 20, 2023 in Bridgeport. She was born October 12, 1930 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsyvania to Daniel and Mary (Slymock) Ward. They both preceded her in death, along with her sister, Ruth Ward. Irene graduated from Misericordia University, with a BA in education, in 1951. She married her husband of 68 years, Walter “Clyde” Eanes Jr., in 1955. Irene taught school in Maryland until moving to Texas in 2000 to be closer to her beloved granddaughters. She continued to teach for Decatur School District until 2015. Irene attended Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Decatur. She loved to spend time with her family and watch her granddaughters play volleyball. Irene was an avid reader and enjoyed shopping, fashion and cooking. She is survived by her husband of 68 years Walter “ Clyde” Eanes Jr.; son, Daniel Ward Eanes; daughter, Susan Eanes Roberson and husband Waymon “Brad”; granddaughters, Jenna and Bailey; cousins Susan Kosisky, Shelly Hubinger, and Darryl Kosisky. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
