Bill is survived by his wife Linda of 21 years, three sons – Michael T. Crawley/Tammy, Tony Dunn/Staci, Ronnie Dunn/Lori, one daughter Julie Dunn, two step-daughters, Robin Britt and Rhonda Jones/Shawn, and 13 grandchildren.
Bill, who was called “Billy” in his youth, was raised on a dairy farm in McKinney, Texas. Billy’s grandfather who he called “Dad” held a special place in his heart and was instrumental in leading him to put his faith in Jesus Christ at an early age. Billy was a outstanding athlete in baseball, basketball and football at McKinney High. His favorite sport was football where he played as QB and defensive back. He received a full scholarship to play football at SMU from 1956-1959. Billy was drafted 218 overall in 1959 by the Chicago Cardinals which would be a 6th round draft pick in today’s NFL.
After graduating from SMU, he embarked on a lifelong journey as a business and family man. He had a successful career as a real estate broker and developer, marketing consultant, corporate president, financial planner, Bible teacher, author and poet. He was a “lifelong” member of the Dallas Chamber of Commerce. He was also on the City Council of Irving and the Planning and Zoning Commission of Haltom City. He was an active member of the Northeast Tarrant County Republican Club.
He had a full and meaningful life that touched the hearts and lives of many. He was a visionary, kind, gentle, honest, reliable, faithful, patient, understanding, responsible, caring, trustworthy, intelligent and a world-class encourager. Bill finally faced life’s ultimate challenge through cancer starting in August of 2019. Bill fought valiantly all the way to the end as he held onto Ephesians 6:13 …having done all, STAND.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to his favorite organization, (501 C-3) in the memory of Bill Dunn to https://www.Capturinggrace.org
