Listen to Obituary

David Sneed, 78, a cherished husband, father, brother, and grandfather, peacefully departed this life on October 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 29, 1947, in Fort Worth to Howard and Mildred (Witt) Sneed, both of whom preceded him in death, as well as his sister-in-law, Maxine Sneed. David was a lifelong resident of Springtown, graduating from Springtown High School.

From a young age, David dedicated his life to hard work, beginning at his father's dairy farm when he was just 10 years old. His mornings often started at Howells Western Cafe, where for 63 years he enjoyed coffee and conversations with lifelong friends. Over the years, David became a skilled Master Electrician, and he also had a passion for building homes. Most notably, however, was his love for farming, which allowed him to connect deeply with the land.

David dedicated many years of his life to supporting his family, working long hours as a gas plant operator at Devon Energy before retiring with pride. His hobbies included trips to the casino and golfing with his brother, which brought him joy and relaxation.

Through his unwavering commitment and diligence, David not only built a home but also a legacy rooted in love, faith, and resilience. The land he nurtured and the cattle he tended will continue to thrive under the care of his family, serving as a living tribute to the values he instilled.

Above all, David treasured the time spent with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Velma (Jones) Sneed; his children, David Wayne Sneed and wife Cyndi, and Jeanne Stevens and husband James; his brother, J.W. Sneed; his sister, Juanita Gilliland and husband Norman; grandchildren, Samantha (Thomas) Long, Hunter Sneed, Jayton Stevens, Jayla Stevens, Justin Stevens, Joshua Stevens, Ashton (Jay) Barzetti, Presleigh (Ben) Collins; great-grandsons, Benedict Long and Rhylon Barzetti; “honorary son” Jason (Susan) Hinton; sister-in-law, Reva (Larry) Springfield; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

David Sneed's legacy will forever be remembered through the love and memories he created, and he will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
