Chermaine Pikale Byrd-Burrell, 50, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, July 16th, 2023.
Chermaine was born January 31, 1972 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Emily Leffall and Robert Byrd. They both preceded her in death along with being followed in death by her husband, Alvin Burrell.
Chermaine was a resourceful, headstrong, and intelligent woman. She graduated Collinwood High School and pursued an education in nursing. At an early age, Chermaine accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was a member of Open Door Missionary Baptist Church. She fiercely valued her independence, and lived her life to the fullest. Whatever challenges life threw her way, Chermaine always found a way to keep going. Her greatest pride was in her children and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and helping out in whatever ways she could. She is a beloved daughter, sister, mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her sons, Keyante Byrd and his wife Rebecca, and Bruce Woods; daughter, Charde Woods; grandchildren, Aubrianna Byrd, Kendall Byrd, Keyante Byrd Jr. (Shaun), Josephine Byrd, Keidis West Jr. and Jaxson Woods; brothers, Gerald Harris Jr. and Sylvester Simmons; and parents, Gerald Harris Sr. and wife, Doris Simmons-Harris.
