No public services are scheduled for Mrs Brenda Kay (McDonough) Hanlin, 83, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in Decatur, TX. She was born March 9, 1943, in Des Moines, IA, to William McDonough and Gertrude Mae (Gouka) McDonough. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas Hanlin, and daughter Deena Gaither- Adams.

Brenda was raised in Los Angeles, CA. She worked in banking until she became a mother and homemaker. She later retired in Decatur, TX.

Brenda was a spitfire with a loyal heart. She loved her family above all else.

She had many interests, but took the most joy in her cross-stitch. She won several ribbons at county fairs for her cross stitch.

She had a favorite quote by A.H. Berzen: “ Grandparents and grandchildren understand each other because they know how to outwit the generation between them.”

Brenda is survived by her son Davin Reeves and his wife Vee Elizabeth; grandchildren, Jacob Cook, Brandon Cook, Ryan Hanlin and his wife Michaela, Markies Hanlin, and Rayce Reeves, along with several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
