James Don Blackwell, 69, passed away, Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at home. He was born July 22, 1952 in
Seminole, Texas to Henry and Marita (Smith) Blackwell. They both preceded him in death along with
four siblings, Jack, Roy, Donna and Jan.
Don grew up in Anson, Texas surrounded by a large family with loving parents and siblings he loved
deeply. In his early years, Don made many friends that remained close with him throughout his life. He
graduated from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos and was a Certified Public Accountant.
Don spent most of his career in the oil and gas industry. His greatest joy was spending time with family.
Don was very involved in his children and grandchildren's activities as a coach, fan, and participant. He
was an avid reader with a passion for laughter and meeting new people.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Catherine (Posey) Blackwell;
sons, Greg Blackwell, Brett (Ashley) Blackwell, Ryan (Courtney) Blackwell and Shane (Sarah) Sherwood;
daughter, Lindsay (Cody) Sheets; brothers, Dan (Peggy) Blackwell, Max (Janice) Blackwell and Bob
(Karen) Blackwell; sisters, Jane (Ronnie) Whitehead and Sue Blackwell Chaka; grandchildren, Jack, Tess,
Zoey, Cheyenne, Addison, Lane, Kylee, Blayne, Cruz, Sadie and Tripp; numerous nieces, nephews and
extended family.
