Listen to Obituary

Becky Jane Journey was born July 2, 1951, in Munich, Germany. She was the first of four children to Colonel Leroy Gafford and his wife Rosemary. She graduated from Eldorado High School in Arkansas in 1969 and pursued a nursing career. In the mid-1970s, Becky moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where she married Charles Journey, the love of her life, in 1978. Together, they embraced a new chapter filled with love and family, welcoming Charles's two sons, Steve and Chris, and later completing their family with the birth of their daughter, Allison, in 1981.

The family relocated to Texas in the mid-1980s. Becky decided to go back to school and earn a Bachelors degree in Social Work. She continued working as both a nurse and social worker until she could no longer work due to her declining health.

Life wasn't always easy, there were many challenges,. But it was a life full of love, laughter and memories we will cherish.

Becky is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Charles Journey, who continues to love her deeply. She is also survived by a son, Chris Journey, a daughter, Allison Journey, and her grandchildren, Torin Journey and Cecil Rodriguez. Also left to remember her are her sister Sandy Vecchio and husband Joe, and her sister Nancy Gafford, along with many other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Colonel Leroy and Rosemary Gafford, a son, Steve Journey, her granddaughter, Hannah Journey, and her brother, Larry Gafford.

In honor of Becky, our beautiful wife, mother, daughter, and sister, please perform a kind deed for someone today.
