Loretta Allen, a long time resident of Paradise,Texas, passed away at home, Saturday, June 20, 2020 surrounded by those that love her. She was born October 14, 1940 in Dallas. Loretta’s life work was as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). She also spent her life teaching others to serve and heal. Her colleagues highly respected her and her many students viewed her as a lifelong mentor. Her students shared that she may have been a tough teacher, but they learned and thrived under her guideance. Her directness and tough love, a trait she shared with her siblings, made her a cherished mentor and trusted friend.
Loretta volunteered with her congregation, Metropolitan Community Church, where she served on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer. She leaves behind a legacy of faith and faithfulness and will be missed by all who knew her. Her children remember her as a compassionate teacher in all aspects of their lives. She was a consistent support in an inconsistent world. She shared her wisdom, her tough love, and her honesty with all those dear to her. She adored her grandchildren and spent hours sharing her knowledge and passions with them.
She is survived by her beloved spouse of 22 years, Carol Chapman Allen; son, Micheal Shackelford and wife, Katie; daughters, Kathrine Dugan and husband, Michael; Hannah Habito and Johnna Hayes. Grandchildren, Isabelle and Annabelle Shackelford and Blake and Kenzi Dugan. She is preceded in death by her youngest sister Joanna Allen and survived by her brother, Gary Allen and wife, Janet and sister, Angie Moore.
