Albert J. Davenport, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and esteemed servant of the Lord, passed away on June 4, 2025, in Weatherford, Texas. His passing came just one day after he celebrated his 64th wedding anniversary with his beloved wife, Norva Lue Earl Davenport.
Born on November 13, 1936, in Uvalde, Texas, Albert led a life characterized by steadfast faith, generosity, and an unwavering dedication to his family and community. He spent his formative years in McGregor, Texas, where his maternal grandparents immigrated from Denmark. After graduating from McGregor High School, he furthered his education at Tarleton State University and subsequently earned a degree in Agriculture from Sam Houston State University.
Albert began his professional journey at Kerr-McGee uranium mines in New Mexico, where he met Norva, a teacher. Recognizing their strong connection, they married and moved to Belen, New Mexico, where Albert pursued his teaching certification in Albuquerque. Together, they became deeply involved in education, serving as house parents at the New Mexico Boys Ranch and later helping establish the New Mexico Girls Ranch in Lamy. Their commitment provided stability, guidance, and hope for countless children.
Throughout his career, Albert explored various vocations including real estate, heavy equipment sales, chimney sweeping, automobile sales, and custom farming. He approached each endeavor with integrity and a strong work ethic. At home, he cherished restoring houses, managing his farm, and engaging in creative projects with his tools, showcasing his curiosity and craftsmanship.
Albert had a profound love for music, particularly country music, creating cherished memories with his children and grandchildren through fishing trips and camping adventures, often accompanied by his ukulele.
His faith in Jesus Christ was central to his life, influencing every conversation and action. Among his final words were comforting reassurances: “Don’t mourn for me; I am going to be in heaven with Jesus.”
Though he will be profoundly missed for his quick wit, warm laughter, and wise counsel, those who knew him take solace in the promise of his eternal peace.
Albert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Norva Lue Earl Davenport, and his brother, Bobby Davenport of Uvalde, Texas. He is also survived by his children and their families:

A private memorial service will be held to honor Albert’s life; no public service is planned at this time.
