Dorothy Keron (Garland) Akins, 90, passed away, Saturday, August 12, 2023 in Azle. She was born March 4,1933 in South Plains to Clarence Eddie (CJ) and Maddie Elizabeth (Ammerman) Garland. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Smitty George Garland, John Newton Garland, and Clarence Milton Garland; sisters, Mary Lucille Garland Pulley and Peggy Irene Lippert. She was raised in South Plains and later moved to Dallas where she was employed by The Aldolphus Hotel and became the manager of the The Heidelberg Room. Later she worked for Loehmann’s in Garland Texas, where she rose to the position of Lead Sales Person of the Back Room. She held that position until retirement. Later in life, Dorothy married Charles Akins and together they raised Liz. She loved life and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Dorothy also was known for her enjoyment of an ice cold Pepsi. She is survived by her daughter, Elizebeth Ann Tarter; son, Samuel Eugene Conner Jr.; grandchildren, Angela Culp and husband, Steven, Brock Tarter and fiancé, Samantha Gomez, Autumn Tarter and fiancé, James Winchester, Danny Conner, Kelly Conner, Dee Wilkerson and husband, Jason, Christie Conner and Sam Conner; great-grandchildren, Liam, Averie, William, Hunter, Alexis, Austin, Conner, Dalton and ShyAnn and her grand-dogs. Dorothy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
