Jane Orndorff, 64, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Jane was born in Arlington at the Bobo Clinic on March 7, 1944, the daughter of Lloyd and Betty Smith. She grew up in Dallas and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School as the salutatorian of her class. She received her undergraduate degrees from Texas Tech and her master's degree from North Texas. She married her high school chemistry lab partner, Tom, beginning a 41-year marriage and a 24-year education career. Jane was an outstanding German teacher in the Irving and Arlington ISDs. During her last several years in Arlington she was a guidance counselor at Lamar High School and influenced the direction of many students. The true passions in her life were raising her three children and, in recent years, the activities with her four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Breland Smith, and mother-in-law, Joan Orndorff.
