Mary Edith (Hill) Maxson went to be with our Heavenly Father on June 23, 2009 at the age of 96. She was born to George Howard and Edith Hill on January 14, 1913 in Moody Texas. Her current home was The Isle of Watermere in Southlake, Texas where she passed away peacefully surrounded by family. A beautiful young woman during the Depression Era, she was a model for Neiman Marcus and Sanger Brothers. She supplemented her income by assisting the President of SMU to pay for her education. She graduated from SMU in 1934 with a double major in English and Speech as well as receiving her Teaching Certificate. She married Lowell Vinton Maxson on May 8, 1940. They soon after bought a home in University Park where she resided until she could no longer live independently and moved to The Isle of Watermere in September 2008. Mary Edith joined Highland Park United Methodist Church on April 12, 1931. She was a very active member volunteering countless hours with the Sacristy Committee, was Superintendant of the Primary Sunday School classes for many years and held various offices in the Elicia Washam Circle. Other activities included being Treasurer for Friday Forum, independent bookkeeping and book clubs. Mary Edith was always a very generous, kind person. Her years of wisdom made her a wonderful person to know. She was very outgoing and loved meeting new people. Besides being a wonderful and loving mother, her favorite title was "Babo", the name her grandchildren and great-grandsons called her. The family expresses great gratitude to all the friends that have meant so much to her over the years. She had many wonderful friends that she met after moving to The Isle at Watermere. Her zest for life was renewed and she became actively involved socializing, playing bingo, working puzzles and even learned how to Wii bowl. We are thankful for the kind and caring staff from The Isle of Watermere, Radiant Home Health and Seasons Hospice during her final days. Mom, Babo- you will always be missed. You fought the good fight, you finished the course and you kept the faith. We love you!
