Charles Gallant, 78, a loving husband, father and poppop, passed away with his family by his side, Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at home. Charles, known to many as "Captain Marble," owned and operated Eastside Marble since 1956, and it is still operated by his children. He was born Oct. 2, 1931, in Chelsea, Mass., to Thomas and Melvina Perry Gallant. He married Catherine O'Regan in 1951 and they were blessed with 11 children. He was a longtime member of the Northside Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Clifford, Joe, Anita, Freddie and Lucy; and grandchildren, Wendy and Charles III. Survivors: Wife of 59 years, Catherine; children, Kathy (John), Terri, Chucky (Rhonda), J.T. (Beverly), Ann, Joey (Cindy), Eddie, Johnny (Darla), Ronnie, Bobby (Toye) and Linda (Pam); siblings, Jenny, Theresa, Barbara and Bobby; 26 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
